Over the past ten years, the red carpet of the Met Gala has grown more and more spectacular. The star-studded event and its varied themes have inspired guests to enjoy themselves without restraint, and each year, this enthusiasm is magnified even more.

The 2024 Gala marked the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit under the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

The yearly fashion show in February announced Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew as honorary chairs, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny joining Anna Wintour as co-chairs, and Loewe as the creative director.

Here is a little nostalgia as we take a look back at the Met Gala fashion moments that have thrilled us in the past.

Lupita Nyong’o – 2014

With her exquisitely beaded emerald green gown—her sandals were encrusted with gems—Lupita Nyong’o sure did turn heads at the 2014 Met Gala.

Michaela Coel – 2023

In 2023, Michaela looked stunning in her Schiaparelli gown and Emefa Cole SMO Gold jewelry, which has become one of the Met Gala’s all-time favorites.

Normani – 2021

One of our favorites, Normani’s Valentino Haute Couture gown from the Fall/Winter 21/22 Des Ateliers collection, added a dramatic touch to the fashion scene on the 2021 Met Gala red carpet. It was combined with the most amazing matching golden-yellow eye look.

Natalia Bryant – 2021

Insiders in the industry praised Natalia Bryant’s Connor Ives gown as one of the most stylish looks on the 2021 red carpet.

Rihanna – 2014

Rihanna never disappoints when it comes to the Met Gala; this year, she teased fans to expect something spicily different, and in 2014, she pulled off one of the most stunning ensembles this red carpet had seen to date.

Rihanna – 2015

She raised the bar once more during the 2015 Met Gala. It will take a lot for someone to top Rihanna’s 2015 Met Gala ensemble if there’s one thing that’s guaranteed in life as a whole: that look was truly for the books.

Rihanna – 2018

The ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ theme of the 2018 Met Gala may help one comprehend this Maison Margiela by John Galliano ensemble. However, Rihanna’s 2018 Met Gala red carpet ensemble is unavoidable, and she couldn’t have pulled it off more perfectly.

Rihanna – 2019

Since we can remember, Rihanna has been wearing the most audacious Met Gala outfit. Her yellow dress will always be remembered, of course, but this huge suit was also really awesome.

Beyoncé – 2012

Beyoncé decided to reflect on the theme of the 2012 Costume Institute Gala, “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations,” with the contrasting colors of her stunning outfit, and it made a perfect look.

Beyoncé – 2014

Beyoncé looked amazing in a half-sheer black gown in 2014, putting on a classy but daring look.

Beyoncé – 2015

And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get much better, Beyoncé showed up hours late to the 2015 Met Gala with a look that was all natural slay.

Beyoncé – 2016

Once more, Queen B dazzled on the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala by donning a stunning and beautiful blush gown.
