DJ Vlad got into trouble with Black Twitter over the weekend after clashing with Princeton Professor Morgan Jerkins, who also happens to be the niece of Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
This occurred when she took offense at DJ Vlad for tweeting about the ongoing conflict between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
DJ Vlad in his tweet stated that; “Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us’ needed a better mix. It takes away from the song.”
Many social media users responded to his post after it went viral, including Morgan Jenkins, a professor at Princeton. “You are white. This is a matter of black folk,” she wrote.
The two then went on a back-and-forth exchange with Vlad tagging Princeton in his reply to Jenkins. “Wait, so a Princeton professor is telling me that a white person shouldn’t be able to discuss hip-hop? Is that the way you discuss it with your students?”

“What I’m saying is that you put your opinion in a discussion that’s not needed. Black folks should be at the center of these discussions, not you,” Jenkins, a black woman, responded.
Vlad again tagged Princeton and threatened to get in touch.
After reportedly getting in touch with them, Vlad seemed to imply that Jenkins wouldn’t have a position at Princeton.
“It’s known as a permanent record. There is one at every university. Berkeley is where I attended. When you respond to their ignorant and racist remarks, people act as though they are being bullied. The usual victim mindset. Please remove that @princeton from your profile, sweetie. You simply acknowledged that it’s no longer true, lol,” wrote Vlad.
However, on Monday, Vlad tried to clarify his stance once more. “I never intended to file a complaint with Princeton regarding the statement made by former professor Morgan Jerkins regarding the exclusion of white people from commenting on Kendrick Lamar’s music,” he wrote.
“She trolled me, and I trolled back. Ultimately, it sparked an engaging conversation regarding racial relations in the United States. In my upcoming interviews, I’ll be going into deeper detail about it.”
Jenkins responded sharply, pointing out that Vlad had really tagged the institution in his correspondence with her employer and implying that he had done so “with the intention to professionally harm me.”
She went on, “I told him to step down because it’s not his space, and I centered black people in a discussion on hip-hop.” She additionally asked him to cease contacting her family members.
Everything went wrong at that point, and Morgan was defended by black Twitter as shown in some comments below:
