The legal woes of NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, have intensified as he faces additional charges in his ongoing prescription drug fraud case.
The 24-year-old rapper, known for his work on “The Last Slimeto,” is now accused of possessing a firearm as a restricted person and two instances of obtaining prescriptions unlawfully.
The case, which has been unfolding in Utah, saw YoungBoy arrested last month due to his alleged involvement in a prescription drug fraud ring.
The operation reportedly involved calling in prescriptions under the guise of a legitimate doctor’s identity and using false patient information to acquire Promethazine with Codeine, a controlled substance. The prescriptions were then filled and retrieved by individuals connected to YoungBoy.
This is not the first time YoungBoy has encountered legal trouble. His history includes a 2017 conviction for aggravated assault with a weapon.
More recently, in September 2020, he was implicated in a case involving the possession of firearms during a music video production in Baton Rouge, his hometown. Following a pursuit in Los Angeles, he was arrested, and another firearm was discovered in his vehicle, leading to federal charges in California.
Despite being acquitted of the federal charges in 2022, YoungBoy remains entangled in legal proceedings in Louisiana related to the original indictment.
The Weber County Attorney’s Office has advocated for his continued detention without bail, citing the potential danger he poses to others and the risk of him fleeing the jurisdiction.
The rapper’s legal representation has not yet issued a statement regarding the new allegations or his current incarceration status.
