This year’s MTV Video Awards is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and will be broadcast live from the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

The ceremony is said to be the first award show to be held at the Arena, which opened in 2021.

The venue will be the sixth venue in New York to host the event after it alternated at various centres including The Palladium, Metropolitan Opera House, Barclay’s Center, and Madison Square Garden.

Since its inception at the Radio City Music Hall in 1984, the event has been a huge attraction for many music enthusiasts.

“We’re excited to bring this year’s VMAs to UBS Arena, one of the country’s newest and most cutting-edge venues,” Bruce Gillmer, President of Music and other related portfolios at Paramount+, said.

“Celebrating one of music’s biggest nights with the incredible, robust New York area fans is something we’ve been looking forward to since the moment last year’s show ended…We are excited to welcome back the MTV Video Music Awards to New York State,” Kathy Hochul, New York Governor, added in a statement.

With an exciting programme line-up, the show, according to organisers, will be available in more than 150 countries and territories across MTV’s linear and digital platforms.

Nicki Minaj hosted the 2023 edition and co-hosted the 2022 show with Jack Harlow and LL Cool J. Both shows were held at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, where Taylor Swift won Video of the Year for both years, for All Too Well: The Short Film and Anti-Hero.
