Baton Rouge rapper, NBA Youngboy, has recently found himself in cuffs once again, this time in Utah.
Despite being under strict house arrest in the state, Youngboy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was arrested on multiple charges on the evening of Tuesday, April 16, 2024, as reported by jail records from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
According to WFAB, the charges against Youngboy include a range of offenses such as a pattern of unlawful activity, attempting to procure drugs/prescriptions, identity fraud, forgery, possession of controlled substances, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person
His legal woes began in March 2021 when he was indicted for allegedly being found with firearms during an incident in Baton Rouge at September 2020 music video shoot. YoungBoy is awaiting trial over the federal gun charges, which was paused in March 2024, pending the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on Second Amendment rights this spring, the outlet notes.
Despite facing these charges, he was acquitted by a federal jury in Los Angeles in July 2022 for a separate gun-related arrest in California.
Currently, Youngboy has been serving house arrest in Utah under the supervision of a security firm staffed by military veterans. While a federal judge has allowed him access to mental health treatments, restrictions on his activities, including limited time in the recording studio, remain in place despite arguments that his music career has suffered as a result.
So far, no bail has been set. A legal rep for the 24-year-old has not released a statement on his behalf.
In a new development that has led to a fan debate about his actual popularity, a new photo making rounds online has led fans to debate his actual level of popularity.
The artist has released more than 30 individual projects which contain dozens and dozens of singles between them and fans have had their fill of almost all of it.
In a new photo that is making the rounds online, Youngboy is seen posing with a massive plaque celebrating a rare musical achievement. As the plaque itself reads, he reached 100 total Platinum and Gold certifications. Additionally, it is decorated with tiny gold records and the artwork for all of the albums and singles that helped him reach the achievement.
According to the NBA Youngboy Daily fan page, he is the youngest artist to ever be awarded one of the 100 certification plaques. Unsurprisingly, the comments section is full of fans with divided takes on the accomplishment.
