American rapper Nicki Minaj has recently been lauded by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for her ethical approach to fashion.

This comes in the wake of her collaboration with LØCI, a vegan shoe brand, where she unveiled 11 new designs last week.

Minaj took to social media to announce her involvement with the brand, stating that she is not just a sponsor, but an owner.

PETA, a non-profit organization advocating for animal rights, praised Minaj’s collection for its ethical production.

The organization shared on Instagram that no animals were harmed in making the line. Instead of animal-derived materials, the collaboration with LØCI uses recycled bottles, recycled nylon and brass, cork, bamboo, and bio-leather.

PETA expressed excitement over Minaj’s new line of vegan sneakers, noting that it spared cows and other animals from harm. The organization’s endorsement significantly recognises Minaj’s commitment to ethical fashion.

However, not all celebrities have received such praise from PETA. Pharrell, for instance, faced criticism from the organization last year after he introduced a new luxury item for Louis Vuitton. The item, a Millionaire Speedy bag priced at a staggering $1,000,000, was made from crocodile skin, drawing animal rights activists’ ire.

PETA’s Senior vice president, Lisa Lange, wrote an open letter to Pharrell expressing disappointment over his choice of materials. Lange highlighted the cruel conditions under which such goods are made and invited Pharrell to visit a crocodile factory farm to witness the harsh realities firsthand.
