19 & Dangerous, the debut studio album by Ayra Starr, has now reached 500 million streams on Spotify.
According to an independent monitoring platform, the song remains the most streamed project by a female African act on Spotify.
It is again rated as the first most streamed project by a Nigerian female artiste in addition to other impressive statistics.
The album was released on August 6, 2021, through Mavin Records and Platoon after the singer’s self-titled debut EP.
19 and Dangerous is said to be conceptualised as “a Generation Z girl transitioning from adolescence into early adulthood with growing confidence, artistic zeal, sentimentality, and empathy.”
It has records such as Fashion Killer, Toxic, Snitch, In Between, Biggie Biggie, Bloody Samaritan, and others.
Producers like London, Andre Vibez, Louddaaa and Don Jazzy, are credited with working on the project, which features artistes including CKay.
In spite of the progress she has made over the years, Ayra is not resting on her laurels. She has hinted her new album will be ready soon.
Last month, the singer disclosed plans in a reply to a fan on X (Twitter), saying the new album will be ready in May but did not disclose the title of the work.
Her followers, however, are eager to know what the new compilation entails.
Early in January, Ayra trended with Afrosound Commas and subsequently released a solo video to back it up. By the end of February 2024, the song had accumulated 10 million streams on Spotify.
In the second week of February, Commas reached No. 6 on the United States Billboard Afrobeat Chart, in addition to massive endorsements in the Gambia and her home country, Nigeria.
