Comic legend, Chris Tucker, has pointed an accusing finger at Warner Bros. Studios for being responsible for the delay of the release of Last Friday.
His comments follow that of Ice Cube, who indicated that the interference by the movie studio is largely to blame for the delay of the film’s release.
Speaking to V-103 Atlanta on why the movie is yet to be released, Tucker explained that the final decision rested with the producers.
Touching on why he is yet to reprise his role as Smokey, following his appearance in the original Friday movie, he explained there was no strong reason per se, adding that he was open to the role under the right circumstances.
“I don’t know, it has to come back right because, like I said, at this point, you know, I’m only doing stuff that I know that I could do my best and I can have a lot of fun, got to be right,” the 52-year-old noted.
Expressing his frustration at the delay in the movie’s release, Ice Cube revealed that Warner Bros. failed to grant him full creative control over what would have been the final film in the franchise.
According to him, he is eager to get out of Warner Bros. because he finds it difficult to fit into their culture.
Cube also disclosed that the deaths of actors, John Witherspoon and Tiny Lister, both of whom appeared in multiple Friday movies with exceptional performances, amid the differences he had with the studio, resulted in missed opportunities to bring the storylines of the characters in a full circle.
The first Friday movie was released in 1995, and had as part of its cast, Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Nia Long, Bernie Mac, Tiny Lister, John Witherspoon, Regina King, Faizon Love and Anna Maria Horsford.
Five years later, Next Friday was released, with Tucker being replaced by Mike Epps. Witherspoon, Lister and Horsford reprised their roles.
