Award-winning rapper and producer, Kanye West has revealed that he is contemplating various options for releasing his new album, including potentially bypassing streaming services entirely.
Kanye West, also known as Ye, shared this information with the fan site YeFanatics. He has been actively communicating with the site recently, discussing his plans and seeking feedback from his dedicated fan base.
The new album, a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, was expected to be released on March 8, 2024, but got conspicuously missing on streaming platforms on the said date. Eagerly anticipated by fans and critics alike, given the success of their previous collaborations, Vultures 1.
Kanye speaks on upcoming Vultures 2 album
In a message to YeFanatics, Kanye addressed the delay in releasing the new album. When asked if Vultures 2 would be available that day, he succinctly replied, “We in the lab.”
After assuring his fans that the album was still in the works, Kanye West also indicated that he may not go by the regular release method, relying on streaming services.
“Talking with the team about the method of release,” he told YeFanatics.
The statement suggests West is considering a departure from the traditional album release model, which typically involves distribution through major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.
Kanye West’s contemplation of alternative release methods raises intriguing questions about the future of music distribution. As one of the most influential figures in modern music, West’s decisions could inspire other artists to explore similar paths.
Following his initial message, West asked YeFanatics if it was possible to sell a million copies of the album.
Kanye West’s daughter announces debut album
Meanwhile, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s 10-year-old daughter North West is taking after her father, venturing into music.
North West has announced her debut album, titled Elementary School Dropout. The title is a playful homage to her father’s debut album, The College Dropout, which broke many grounds in 2004.
The announcement was made at the Vultures 2 listening event in Phoenix on Sunday, March 10, where North, the first of Kanye’s four children with Kardashian, shared the stage with her father.
