Whoopi Goldberg is an equity partner of BLKFAM, a black-owned free streaming service with ads that was developed by digital marketing veteran Larry Adams.

As “the first and only black-owned, black-focused family streaming platform,” the streamer claims it closes a significant market gap. It begins with a content library that includes hundreds of hours of original music-driven content, more than 1,000 hours of new animation titles, including dozens of new animated characters of color and diverse gender experiences, and more than 20 syndicated series.

The platform also contains investigative journalism and news, fitness and wellness series, Black history, sitcoms, and reality shows—”all through the lens of the Black experience”—ten new original live-action and animated series are in development to premiere on the platform throughout the year, revealed the streamer.

Larry Adams stated, “I wanted to create a platform where my kids and I can be entertained without having to face those same daily biases because black culture and content are so often stereotyped, siloed, or written off.”

Along with Tom Leonardis, the president of Goldberg’s entertainment company, Whoop, Inc., has joined as an equity partner and will be in charge of the creative development of a variety of series that will only be available on the platform.

Whoopi Goldberg stated, “It is a pleasure to work with BLKFAM to support the creative direction of carefully chosen diverse content so Black culture can be brought to broader audiences.”

In addition to Playwatch Kids and ATTN, the streamer has partnered with The Africa Channel. Broadcast shows like Kembe, Marvelous Light, Black History Beats, Gabby Galactic, and others will also be available.

The BLKFAM app is currently accessible on the following platforms: iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube TV, Samsung Smart TVs, Vizio, and LG.
