Renowned record label, Mavin Records has responded to its partnership with the Universal Music Group (UMG), saying the collaboration will bring “more music, innovation, and opportunities,” which would allow the label to “showcase African talent worldwide.”

Describing the move as a “new chapter,” Marvin Records said its “core mission” remained intact as it continued to support musicians to thrive.

“This partnership is a milestone that recognises our collective talent and hard work, aiming to elevate African music on the global stage. While we embark on this exciting new path, our core mission and values will remain intact, ensuring that the essence of Mavin and our commitment to pushing musical boundaries continue to thrive.”

The value of the acquisition has not been disclosed. The collaboration is expected to improve Mavin Record’s “full-service offering in Nigeria through UMG’s global network of labels and businesses.

Mavin Records said the deal was a testament to the dedication of artists, staff, and fans “whose unwavering support has been instrumental.”

“Together, we look forward to making history, breaking more records, and building a lasting legacy. Thank you for your continued belief in us. Here’s to our bright future together,” Mavin Records said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mavin Records, owned by music producer Don Jazzy, is credited for nurturing talents like Ayra Starr and Rema, who continue to produce chart-topping songs.

Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh, has expressed satisfaction about the joint venture as he would remain autonomous in his strategy for future talent development.

“I’m proud of the artists, careers and brand we’ve built that have made Mavin the force it is today. In this historic partnership with UMG, we will continue that mission in Africa and across the globe,” Don Jazzy was quoted in the statement.
