It has been over 14 years since American singer Michael Jackson passed away but his star is still so powerful.
Jackson’s estate is set to benefit from this star power as one of his most famous memorabilia goes up for sale. The Thriller hitmaker’s jacket he wore for Pepsi’s iconic 1984 commercial is being auctioned.
According to People.com, fans of the late megastar will have the privilege of bidding for the jacket he wore in the commercial to reimagine his hit song, Billie Jean.

The jacket is reported to form part of over original music items which are being auctioned by Propstore from November 10. Apart from the jacket itself, a photo of Jackson wearing the clothing item will also be auctioned.
The auction lot also includes the original Polaroid of him receiving the jacket, a hand-signed photo from the former child star, The Making of Thriller book, Making Michael Jackson’s Thriller LaserDisc, and Pepsi set pictures, among others
Daily Mail indicates that bidding on the late King of Pop’s b&w zippered outerwear – which has no size or manufacturer label – will start at about $123,000 but it’s estimated to fetch between $246,000 and $492,000 at auction.
Burna Boy announces I Told Them…Tour
In other news, Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy, is seeking to consolidate the gains he has made with his new album, I Told Them…
Burna Boy who became the first-ever international Afrobeats artiste to top the UK Albums Chart – a feat he achieved in September–, has announced a tour to promote the album.
Dubbed the I Told Them…Tour, the Live Nation-produced series of concerts will kickstart on November 3, 2023, a flier shared on his official Instagram page indicated.
Burna Boy headlines 2023 AfroNation festival in Nigeria
The two-month break in the tour schedule was not explained but it is understood that Burna Boy will be attending to other engagements within that period.
Already, organizers of Afrobeats music festival, Afro Nation, have announced the African Giant, as some fans call him, as the main star for the December 19-20 event to be held in Lagos.
He will be joined by Nigerian compatriots Seyi Vibez, Flavour, British rapper JHus, and Ghana’s Black Sherif as the first set of artistes billed to thrill Afrobeats lovers.
MTV EMA 2023: Davido, Asake, Ayra Starr, Rema nominated for new Afrobeats category
Meanwhile, Afrobeats artistes will have their shine at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA). The genre has been added as one of the categories for prestigious awards for the first time.
Organizers of the prestigious event announced the introduction of Afrobeats as they released nominations for the awards on Wednesday.
The nominees in the maiden edition of the category are French superstar, Aya Nakamura, and Nigerian singers, Asake, Arya Starr, Burna Boy, Davido and Rema.
The 2023 MTV EMA will be held on November 5 and will be broadcast live to more than 150 countries from the Paris Nord.
