Former US President Donald Trump has made a surprise appearance at the Sneaker Convention in Philadelphia to continue his campaign.
His appearance comes a day after the former president was fined $355 million after a fraud trial.
“Sneakerheads, you’re sneakerheads, right? Does everybody in the room consider themselves a sneakerhead?” Trump said this in a short speech to crowd members who were both chanting for and booing at him.
At the convention, the 77-year-old politician showed off his gold “Never Surrender” high-top trainers, which cost $399. The sneakers have apparently sold out online.
“This is a slightly different audience than I’m used to, but I love this audience,” Donald Trump replied to the mixed reactions.
Trump said that he was not speaking to the Michigan audience “about a slightly different subject than trainers,” but that “it’s all part of Americana.” He later encouraged everyone to “go out and vote.”
