Award-winning Ghanaian Afrobeats and Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, seems to be breaking boundaries with the release of his Manodzi song.
Barely a month after it was released on YouTube, the video for Manodzi has reached an impressive one million streams on the video streaming platform.
Manodzi is one of the soothing rhythms from the 17-track 5th Dimension album released by Stonebwoy early this year.
The visual and composition, with an exquisite vocal touch from soul-inspiring Beninese musician legend Angelique Kidjo, has attracted positive reviews from fans since it premiered in September.
Manodzi, sung mainly in the Ghanaian language known as Ewe, speaks about perseverance in the face of adversity. In spite of its roots in native expressions, the song appeals to listeners from diverse backgrounds who praise the hard-hitting instrumentals and the comforting vibes it exudes.
Although some fans have tipped the Afrobeats song for the Grammys, the one million streams reached within a short period may have been least expected.
Afrobeats enthusiasts who cannot get enough of Manodzi and other trending Stonebwoy songs such as Into The Future, Secret Lover, Apotheke, and In Control, have hailed Stonebwoy for the commendable effort put into the Afrobeats genre over the years.
The Tuff Seed composer was out and about this week in London, throwing his support behind Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus in the West Ham and New Castle United Premier League game on October 8, 2023.
His prediction generated excitement and comments from fans ahead of the match. The musician was also seen hailing Kudus who said Stonebwoy had brought him “luck” in the game.
While at it, Stonebwoy has announced his 5th Dimension Album tour, slated for October 26–29, 2023.
The tour kicks off with headline concerts in London, Birmingham, and Manchester later in the month.
Stonebwoy also noted that the 6th edition of the annual BHIM concert would take place at Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana’s capital on December 22.
