Controversial American rapper Kanye West has shown that he’s still got it when it comes to making waves on music charts.

Kanye’s latest work, Vultures 1, a collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign has soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

The album has been met with widespread acclaim and commercial success, earning 148,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Of this figure, 129,000 units, came from streaming platforms. The album also racked up an impressive 167.78 million on-demand streams. In addition, 18,000 units were from pure album sales and 1,000 from TEA (track equivalent album) units.

Kanye West makes Billboard history with 11th No 1 album

The performance of Vultures 1 places Kanye West at par with Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand, who boasts 11 No. 1 albums each. Only few artists, including Drake and Taylor Swift (13), JAY-Z (14), and The Beatles (19), have more No. 1 albums.

Reacting to the news, Kanye West issued a brief statement to Complex, saying:

“It’s a beautiful time.”

For Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures 1 marks his first No. 1 album and his second Top 10, following 2020’s Featuring Ty Dolla $ign. It thus signifies a new high in his career, demonstrating his growing influence in the music industry.

Ty Dolla $ign also celebrated the achievement on his Instagram Stories. In a video, he is seen lifting his index finger to the camera, a symbolic gesture of claiming the No. 1 spot, while silencing the naysayers.

How North West released track list of Vultures 1

Meanwhile, the tracklist for the album was revealed by none other than Kanye’s daughter North West. She wore a custom-made shirt with the names of the 18 songs on the back.

Kanye and his ex Kim Kardashian took North and some of her friends out for dinner in Los Angeles earlier in February.

The kids were rocking Vultures’ merchandise, including hoodies, hats, and masks. But the most eye-catching piece was North’s shirt, which displayed the full tracklist for the album.
