Multiple award-winning entertainer, Ne-Yo, known in real life as Shaffer Chimere Smith, is taking no chances in his custody battle with ex-girlfriend, Sade Bagnerise.
The 43-year-old singer has reportedly asked a court to – as it were – ‘gag’ his ex-lover with whom he has two children, from “discussing the custody battle proceedings and any aspect of the proceedings in the media to include but not limited to social media, print media, internet, radio, and or television media in further directives held under the Domestic Relations Standing Order.”
According to the So Sick hitmaker, some sensitive documents and information pertaining to the case cannot be made to reach the public’s ‘ears and eyes’ for his own safety and that of his family.
In May this year, Ne-Yo, through his lawyers, filed to ascertain the paternity of Braiden and Brixton – boys he had with Bagnerise. The motion was accepted and it was established that the Because Of You crooner was the dad of the two, theshaderoom.com reported. The action was to make way for Ne-Yo to include the boys in his will.
Following the discovery, Ne-Yo prayed the court to bar Sade Bagnerise from ever commenting on the matter and also asked her to leave out details about the locations of his houses, amounts he agreed to pay in child support, and other details in her interactions.
The Grammy Award winner’s request follows earlier comments made by his ex-wife Crystal Renay about their divorce proceedings which the musician claims cost him some $400,000 in deals. So to prevent a second occurrence, he had to seek help from the courts – in the case of Sade.
Ne-Yo had to part ways with Renay after the latter took to social media to allege that the musician was having multiple affairs – one of which produced Braiden and Brixton. She noted that the young boys were birthed while her marriage to him was still binding.
Bagnerise, the Over My Head singer’s ex-girlfriend was in the news following the musician’s paternity request and popped up again when she was allegedly arrested on charges of child cruelty, according to thesource.com.
She has also made claims following a joint custody ruling from the court – which include asking the singer to spend “every other weekend” with her sons.
The court is also preparing documents to have the surnames of Braiden and Brixton changed from their mother’s name to that of their father’s.
