Rapper J. Cole has been keeping fans on their toes with his upcoming seventh studio album, The Fall Off.
The rapper has been dropping hints about the project since 2018, when he released the song “1985 (Intro to The Fall Off)” as the outro of his album KOD. Since then, he has released two singles, “The Climb Back” and “Lion King on Ice”, which he confirmed are part of The Fall Off.
However, Cole has not revealed much about the release date or the tracklist of the album, leaving fans in suspense. That is, until he joined Drake on stage for the opening night of their joint tour, It’s All a Blur – Big as the What?, on Friday (February 2) at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
During his set, Cole surprised the crowd by announcing that he was in the final stages of finishing The Fall Off. “Right now, I’m at the tail-end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time,” he said. “It’s called The Fall Off.”
Cole did not give any further details about the album, but he thanked the fans for their patience and support.
The tour, which is named after the titles of Drake’s and Cole’s latest albums, Certified Lover Boy and The Off-Season, respectively, will run until April 24, 2024, and will visit 25 cities across North America. The tour is expected to be one of the biggest events in hip-hop history, as it brings together two of the most influential and successful artists of the genre.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of The Fall Off, which Cole has described as a “career-defining” album.
