Megan Thee Stallion (born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete) was raised in Houston, Texas, and at the age of 14, she relocated to Pearland, Texas with her mother.

Following her high school graduation in 2013, Megan enrolled at Prairie View A&M University. She released freestyles in between school, which quickly elevated her from a local legend to a worldwide superstar.

How Megan Thee Stallion Became Famous

Megan became well-known on social media for her freestyle rap videos. The Hiss rapper who won three Grammys in 2021 claimed she was born into a musical family. As a child, Megan would accompany her mother, then-aspiring rapper Holly Aleece “Holly-Wood” Thomas, to recording sessions rather than being sent to daycare.

Megan Thee Stallion gained popularity on SoundCloud by posting one-off songs and two digital mixtapes (Megan Mix in 2017 and Rich Ratchet in 2016) before ever landing a record deal. Her Houston Cypher from 2016 went viral. The year 2018 saw the signing of Megan Thee Stallion as the first female artiste to the independent Houston label 1501 Certified Entertainment.

She also signed on for a $10,000 advance as a signing bonus—a meager sum in the music industry. She released Tina Snow, a 10-track EP, in June of that year. She signed with 300 Entertainment that November, making history as the label’s first female signee.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, as of November 2023, Megan Thee Stallion, a multiple award-winning rapper, had a net worth of $14 million.

How much did Megan Thee Stallion make from endorsements and promotion?

The amount that Megan Thee Stallion received for her She-Hulk cameo in the Marvel Disney+ series is unknown. Additionally, Megan has an endorsement agreement with Popeyes, though the details of her take-home pay for the commercial are kept under wraps.

Given that the precise numbers haven’t been made public, it’s safe to assume Megan Thee Stallion made a mint off of her workout collaboration and endorsement with Nike. As we all know, Nike is no stranger to massive deals worth $1 million or more.

Megan has established herself not only with her songs but also by improving other people’s songs through guest verses and features. Depending on an artiste’s celebrity status, a news outlet reported in 2019 that “the lower end for newer artistes hovers between $3,000 and $5,000 and as high as $25,000 or even higher.” However, according to a leaked document, Megan was typically charging $100,000–$125,000 per show in 2019.

In August 2020, Megan joined Revlon as a brand ambassador and starred in advertisements for their products. The rapper from Housten also had deals with Coach and Fashion Nova; in July 2021, she modeled for Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty lingerie and became the first rapper to ever cover Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. Megan’s trademark “Hot Girl Summer” also brought in a lot of money.

Giving Back

However, Megan Thee Stallion is kind enough to give back in addition to donating the proceeds from her Savage remix to charity. The 28-year-old partnered with Women on Top, a philanthropic partnership with Fashion Nova focused on female empowerment, in March 2021, right before the Grammy Awards.

The program’s main goals are to promote women who are inspiring and making a difference in the world, as well as to support female-focused businesses, charities, and organizations. Fashion Nova Cares is a program that honors women, business owners, and organizations by giving them grants of at least $25,000, up to a total of $1,000,000.

She also used her Coach partnership to help women at the Houston YWCA in December 2020. Megan assists BIPOC women in pursuing higher education through her scholarship program. Additionally, she and Cardi B teamed up with Twitter to distribute $1 million.

Megan Thee Stallion’s wealth will continue to rise, transforming her from “Hot Girl Summer” to a stylish multimillionaire who possesses intelligence, drive, and ambition as a young black woman.
