Ghanaian professional footballer, Mohammed Kudus, has taken the Afrobeats into the world of football by celebrating his first English Premier League (EPL) goal with Ghanaian Afrobeats singer King Promise’s hit song, Terminator.
Kudus, who plays his professional football with English side, West Ham United Football Club, on Sunday, October 8, 2023, scored his first EPL goal against Newcastle United.
After his goal, Mohammed Kudus ‘teamed ‘linked’ up with his teammate and Captain of West Ham United, Kurt Zouma to do the viral dance trend for the Terminator song. The two delivered the dance routine seamlessly, as though they had been rehearsing for this moment in training.
Kudus scored a goal in the 89th minute of the game as an equalizer with his team starring at a near defeat to Newcastle. The 23-year-old came off the bench to salvage a point for his side ending the match on a 2-2 scoreline.
This act by Kudus is a huge boost for King Promise, his song, and the Afrobeats genre in general.
The Terminator dance challenge, which was choreographed by Ghanaian dancer Dancegod Lloyd, is one of the most popular dance trends on social media currently.
Kudus’ performance of the popular dance immediately got the attention of the Afrobeats singer, King Promise, who took to his X page (formerly Twitter) to commend the Ghanaian international. The video has been shared several times by fans of both Kudus and King Promise as well as patrons of the Afrobeats genre.
King Promise posted the footballer’s celebration video with the caption: “CHAMPION @KudusMohammedGH #Terminator”.
It can be recalled that for the month of September, King Promise was reported to be the most streamed Ghanaian artiste with over 2,018,220 streams on the online platform, Spotify.
