Rumors of a likely album release by Jay-Z have caused a stir in the entertainment industry, especially after director Hidji World revealed via Instagram Stories that he was on set with the rapper.
Details of the story of a likely album release began circulating in the afternoon of Sunday, January 28, 2024.
In one story, Hidji World shared a message that he was “shooting today” with Jay-Z. In another story, he teased a photo of a first-take film slate labeled “JAY-Z – 2024 ALBUM.” Hidji was listed as the director and Leroy Farrell was also mentioned as the director of photography.
Roc Nation reacted to the news on X (formerly Twitter) that the rumor was news to it since they were also just hearing the same.
The last time Jay-Z released a full-length solo album (4:44) was in 2017, which debuted and spent two weeks at No.1 on the Billboard 200.
The following year, he released Everything Is Love with Beyoncé as The Carters, and this was the first joint set from the husband-and-wife duo.
In an interview with Gayle King last fall, Jay-Z noted “I‘ll say I wanna make music, but it has to be something important. I don’t wanna just make a bunch of tunes. That’s not gonna serve me. It won’t feed me, first of all. I have to be saying something important. It has to mean something, you know? It has to mean something to a larger society.”
According to Jay-Z, 4:44, for example, was a personal story, but the amount of vulnerability in there allowed for a lot of people to explore the space.
In other news, Jay-Z has reportedly designed a Moncler x Roc Nation capsule collection, and the line is currently available.
The winter-friendly capsule arrived on the designer’s website on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, and has the entertainment icon combining the coziness of streetwear and the lavish garments produced by the fashion house.
