A half-hour per episode dramedy being developed for BET Plus and focused on Ludacris’ early days as a radio DJ is in the works, reports say.
Ludacris, who is celebrated as one of the best rappers of the 2000s, recently released snippets of the series which is based on his origins back in the day when he was known as Chris Lova Lova.
His announcement on social media followed a new article from The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, January 22, 2024, about the early stages of the project.
The Word Of Mouf rapper took to Instagram to reveal that the project was inspired by his real-life journey as he came up in the competitive music scene in Atlanta as a radio personality.
Also joining the show as executive producer would be the co-creator of Insecure and the creator of the Bernie Mac Show, Larry Wilmore.
BET Plus has also revealed that the series is focused on the “misadventures of a sharply drawn ensemble who are ready to do anything and everything to boost ratings at their hip-hop radio station.”
One of the writers behind the acclaimed Amazon Prime video show, The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Noah Gardenswartz, reportedly joined the show’s production to write the script.
Records show that this isn’t Ludacris’ only recent entertainment venture which shows his artistry that has excited his fans. He was a judge of Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow’s second season along with DJ Khaled and Latto.
Eminem is also expected to appear as a special guest judge, and as fans have come to expect, his input should be as interesting and creatively motivated as Ludacris.
In the previous season, the show had Chance The Rapper, Cardi B, and T.I. as its judges.
In other news, Ludacris had his fans jamming to music as he performed his iconic song, Move B*tch, during the Atlanta Falcons’ game against the New Orleans Saints at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. As part of the stag craft, he rappelled down with a harness from the roof of the venue while rapping to the crowd.
