Though he didn’t come clear on the next line of action, he indicated that another “chapter” was on the way, and then signed off by informing his fans of his likely presence in Los Angeles.
The comment led fans to believe that Woods would be present at Los Angeles’ Genesis at Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades in February 2024.
Nike also released an official statement on social media. The Oregon-based company showered Woods with love as they wished him well on his next chapter.
Nike asserted that Woods challenged his competition, stereotypes, conventions, and the old-school way of thinking. They added that he challenged the entire institution of golf, and they are grateful because he also challenged himself. Their post also included a shot of the golfer wearing his iconic Nike outfit.
Nike teamed up with Woods when he turned pro in August 1996, and he has been donning the Swoosh in his iconic red and black ensemble since then. The partnership spanned decades and included 82 PGA Tour wins, 15 major championship wins, and several other historic moments.
According to The Oregonian, Nike and Woods agreed to renew their contract on three occasions during their partnership, with the last renewal taking place in 2023, and valued at $200 million for ten years.
However, Woods switched to TaylorMade and Bridgestone equipment after Nike made changes to its golf line in 2016.
