Talk of female African singers, Sability Queen and Ayra Starr, is also cooking something new to kick off the New Year.
She had put up a teaser for her next project, titled Commas. She was seen in a video on her X (Twitter) page striking some chords on the keyboard as she sang along.
Fans already seem in love with the sound, as Starr is always on point with her compositions. The year 2023 was more or less one of her progress years, as she dropped back-to-back hits, performed at top concerts, and gained recognition worldwide.
It appears she is in for more exploits this year and will not rest anytime soon.
In December, she was among Afrobeats talents like Adekunle Gold, Asake, Burna Boy, and Davido, who all secured nominations in the Best African Act category at the Music of Black Origin Awards.
She again embarked on an international tour dubbed 21:The World Tour, performing in cities including Manchester, Birmingham, and London, sometime in November last year.
The Mavin Records signee has been described as a performer who is impossible to ignore, and she continues to prove it as she grows in her career.
Her song Rush was listed at the top of the Apple Music 2023 end-of-year chart for Sub-Saharan Africa. The singer is also competing in the Best African Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards, coming in February 2024.
In June 2023, Rush was certified Platinum in Nigeria by the TurnTable Certification System of Nigeria (TCSN). It was again certified Platinum, Diamond, and Gold in Canada, France, and the United Kingdom, respectively.
Ayra Starr also partnered with French DJ and music producer David Guetta and Chicago rapper Lil Durk on the song Big FU, which came with a colourful music video that made good impressions online.
