2024 seems to have come with an abundance of brand-new black movies and television series for fans of both cinema and television.

Just as some of the final releases of 2023 are still available, hopefully, the majority of them will be astounding and live up to the hype.

Additionally, a staggering selection of streaming products, such as a live-action anime and a dystopian science fiction thriller, will be available to Netflix subscribers in 2024.

With so many major productions and films released in 2023, what can we expect? Here is a list of the top five black TV shows and films available on the streaming service in 2024.

Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer

Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer is in response to backlash over his transphobic remarks in his previous comedy special. Netflix and Dave Chappelle have reunited for a stand-up routine that will be aired in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Stan Lathan, who has directed seven other Netflix specials, is the director of this movie. The comedian released a trailer with Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman and himself ahead of its Sunday, December 31 release.

Trevor Noah: Where was I?

It may not come as a surprise to learn that Trevor Noah is filming his fourth Netflix special so soon after releasing his third, which was released in the wake of his announcement last year that he was leaving The Daily Show to spend more time performing stand-up on the road. With all of his spare time now that he is not working for Comedy Central, what message does he want to convey to us?

Poppa’s House (Season 1) Damon Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Essence Atkins, and Tetona Jackson

The perspective of legendary talk radio host and happily divorced “Poppa” (Damon Wayans) will be tested in a forthcoming series as he continues to raise his adult son (Damon Wayans Jr.) while still raising a new female co-host at work. This bright dreamer tries to balance being a responsible husband and father with pursuing his passion. This cracker is due for release in February 2024.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Season 1) Donald Glover, Michaela Coel

This is an upcoming television show featuring Two lonely strangers who get hired by an enigmatic spy organization that promises them a glamorous life of travel, wealth, and espionage—along with a dream Manhattan brownstone. What’s the catch? As Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith, they assume new identities in an arranged union. Now that they are married, John and Jane must manage a dangerous mission each week in addition to approaching a new relationship benchmark.

Iwájú Season 1 (Animation, Comedy, Fantasy, Science Fiction)

A comic-style black animated science fiction series set in Lagos is the subject of an upcoming Animation series that delves into themes of class, innocence, and questioning the status quo.

The Big Cigar (Season 1) André Holland, Tiffany Boone, Don Cheadle, Jordan Christie, and Glynn Turman

This project is a historical account of the life of Huey P. Newton. With the aid of a few other well-known radicals and Bert Schneider, the Hollywood producer of Easy Rider, he fled to Cuba to avoid being charged with murder.
