Denzel Washington and wife Pauletta got married on June 25, 1983. The pair tied the knot six years after they first crossed paths in 1977 while working on the set of the television movie “Wilma.”
John David, Katia, Olivia, and Malcolm are Denzel and Pauletta Washington’s four children. Their oldest son, John David Washington, followed in his father’s footsteps and became a successful actor.

Celebrating his 40th wedding anniversary, the actor praised his wife for all the preparation she put into hosting guests and revealed his Thanksgiving plans with Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray during an episode of the SiriusXM radio show “Let’s Go! with Tom Brady,” as reported by People.
Washington said, “The Missus is getting everything ready. The long table is out. People come from all over. She told me she had an 11th-hour issue this morning that was, like, they brought the wrong-size turkey or something. So she had to go get an extra turkey or something.”
He jokingly shared, “And I don’t do anything in the kitchen but eat.”
“She kicked me out of there. She’s like, ‘You have nothing to do with this. Just go make some money and get out of the way,’ ” the “Equalizer” star said while laughing.
During the conversation, Washington also acknowledged how fortunate he was. “I’m thankful, and I have been blessed beyond measure with the greatest woman in the world, who is not only a beautiful woman and a great wife, and I love her as the great mother of our children, but she holds everything together,” he stated.
In Hollywood, finding a marriage that works can be extremely difficult at times. One scandal after another has led to an increase in cases of cheating, separation, and divorce. However, after 40 years of marriage, Denzel Washington and his actress wife Pauletta still going strong.
When asked what makes their marriage work in a 2019 interview with People Magazine, Denzel replied, “There are too many things!” But his favorite thing about his wife is this: “food, security, and a lovely home. There is a significant distinction between a house and a home. You can purchase a house, but that does not make it a home. That is not to say that a man cannot make a house feel like a home; rather, my wife has done the heavy lifting in raising our lovely children and providing for them.”
This marriage has genuinely stood out over the years and is among the most prosperous unions in the American black community, in addition to being one of the longest-lasting partnerships in Hollywood.
