Birdman has revealed how much Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj have made for Cash Money Records. He said the trio helped bring in more than $2 billion for the label.
The Cash Money co-founder shared this during a recent appearance on Nick Cannon’s “Cannon’s Class” podcast. He broke down the numbers behind the label’s biggest stars and explained how their careers helped turn Cash Money into a billion-dollar company.
Birdman said the combined revenue made from the careers of Drake, Wayne, and Nicki passed the $2 billion mark. He also said no other group of artists has brought in that level of income for a label in the history of the music industry.
“Two billion dollars between Drake, Nicki, and Wayne. Two-plus billion dollars. Hundreds of millions of dollars, guaranteed,” Birdman said.
Back in 2021, Birdman had also shared similar details in another interview. He claimed that after landing a deal with Universal Records, he personally paid out around $1.4 billion to the three artists.
At the time, he said Wayne received between $400 and $500 million, Drake got a similar amount, and Nicki made between $300 and $400 million.
Birdman also talked about the value of music rights. He said Cash Money still earns about $20 to $30 million every year from its catalog.
He explained that the label had only recently started allowing samples from its music, which opened more ways to make money.
Even though Cash Money saw huge financial success, Birdman’s relationship with Lil Wayne had its problems. For several years, the two were involved in legal issues that affected Wayne’s career.
In 2018, they reached a settlement that reportedly gave Wayne over $10 million and full control over his album Tha Carter V, which had been delayed for years.
Later that year, Birdman and Wayne were seen on stage together, showing that they had put the past behind them.
Birdman also gave a public apology to Wayne at that event, ending their long-standing dispute.
