Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé and Solange, has revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year but is now cancer-free.
The 70-year-old fashion designer shared the news in an interview, explaining that doctors found stage 1 breast cancer in her left breast during a routine test in July 2023.
She said she had missed a screening during the pandemic and only realized later that she had not gone back for it.

After the diagnosis, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor and also had a breast reduction. She is now free of cancer and says she feels grateful the disease was caught early.
Knowles said she decided to speak publicly about her diagnosis to encourage other women not to skip regular health checks. She said many women get too busy and forget to prioritize their own health, which can be dangerous.
Her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, supported her throughout the process. Knowles said Beyoncé stayed calm and focused, while Solange quickly stepped in to offer reassurance and help. Their support helped her stay strong during the recovery.

While dealing with her health, Knowles was also going through a divorce from actor Richard Lawson. She filed for divorce in July 2023, after eight years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple had no children together.
In August, a report revealed that Knowles agreed to pay Lawson $300,000 as part of their settlement.
Both parties also agreed not to seek spousal support. The settlement includes a non-disparagement clause, meaning neither side is allowed to speak negatively about the other or their families.
