Lil Durk and his legal team are asking a federal judge to dismiss his murder-for-hire case, claiming that prosecutors gave the grand jury false information that led to his indictment.
The rapper is accused of placing a bounty on Quando Rondo in 2022, allegedly in revenge for the killing of King Von, a close friend and collaborator.

Durk’s lawyers say prosecutors misrepresented the meaning and timing of lyrics from the song ‘Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy’.
According to them, the track was written and recorded months before the alleged shooting, and should not be used as evidence to support the charge.
They argue that the prosecutors’ timeline is wrong and that this mistake makes the indictment invalid. The defense says the grand jury was misled and likely would not have indicted Durk if the facts had been presented correctly.

In a separate motion, his lawyers are also asking for his release from jail before trial.
They say the government is trying to hold Durk responsible for social media content that fans created and shared, including videos edited with his lyrics over unrelated footage.
One fan video shows Quando Rondo reacting emotionally, paired with Durk’s song, which prosecutors suggest could point to an uncharged murder.
The defense says Durk had nothing to do with those fan videos and that using them as evidence is misleading. They say the government is twisting content he had no control over to paint a false picture of him.
Durk has been in jail since October and was already denied bail once. His legal team offered a bond package worth around $3 million in cash and property, but the judge sided with prosecutors, who claimed Durk had a history of breaking rules and interfering with investigations.

They also accused him of making unauthorized three-way calls while in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.
His trial is now set for October 14, 2025, nearly a year after it was originally scheduled. The court cited the complex nature of the case and the large amount of evidence involved—around 230GB of digital files and 20,000 pages of documents.
Durk has said he is innocent and insists that the government has no solid evidence linking him to the attempted killing of Quando Rondo, which led to the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.
