Serena Williams has addressed the speculation surrounding her Crip Walk during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show at Super Bowl LIX, making it clear that it had nothing to do with her ex-boyfriend, Drake.

The tennis legend, who is from Compton just like Kendrick, joined the rapper on stage in a moment that quickly went viral.

Many fans assumed her dance move was aimed at Drake, but Williams has now said that wasn’t the case.

She said Kendrick had been trying to work with her for a long time and finally asked her to be part of his Super Bowl performance.

She admitted she was surprised by the request but agreed to take part. She said she never imagined herself dancing on that stage and felt more likely to play quarterback than to perform.

When asked if she regretted the move, Williams said she wasn’t sure. However, she made it clear that the performance was not meant to be a dig at anyone.

She said she has never had bad feelings toward Drake and would never use a public platform to attack him. She understands why people might think that, but insists that it is not true.

Williams also reacted to comments made by sports analyst Stephen A. Smith, who criticized her for appearing to troll her ex.

She said she found his comments funny and said he is entitled to his opinion. She praised her husband, Alexis Ohanian, for standing by her and said his response on social media was respectful and thoughtful.

After the show, Ohanian defended her, saying she had done nothing wrong.
