Tony Rock is not impressed with Will Smith’s return to music. The comedian, who is also Chris Rock’s brother, says Smith’s new album is not worth hearing, and he hasn’t even listened to it.

Will Smith released Based on a True Story last month. It’s his first album since 2005. The project includes personal themes, especially about the Oscars slap, but it has not made a big impact.

The album failed to appear on the Billboard charts and has received little attention since its release.

Tony Rock was stopped by paparazzi at LAX on Monday and was asked about the album. He didn’t hold back. Without hearing any of the songs, he said the album was bad and accused Smith of using the Oscars incident to sell music.

The opening track on the album, Int. Barbershop – Day features DJ Jazzy Jeff and B. Simone.

In it, Smith reflects on how the Oscars moment changed his life and how the public now sees him. He used the song to share his thoughts and emotions through storytelling.

Tony believes that since Smith brought up the slap in his album, it gives others the right to talk about it again.

He says people keep telling him to move on, but Smith himself is still using the incident. He also said the album’s lack of buzz proves it isn’t strong, especially if the main point of interest is that it mentions his brother.

Tony did mention he still respects Smith’s older music, especially songs like Brand New Funk from the late ‘80s. But he feels this new album doesn’t match that standard and says there’s no reason for him to listen to it.

He also dismissed the idea that Will Smith and Chris Rock could ever be friends again. Even though the slap happened over two years ago, the fallout still affects how the two men are viewed in public.
