Playboi Carti’s new album MUSIC did not have the smoothest release in the world because it arrived with some mixed reactions and technical issues that later got fixed on Spotify.
Despite all of that, it seems like fans are loving the album as it makes history on the streaming app.
On Friday, Playboi Carti released his eagerly anticipated third studio album, MUSIC, which simultaneously set a record on Spotify.
The audio streaming giant shared on Saturday that Music became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far.
According to Spotify’s official Instagram account, “Carti’s MUSIC is already making history.”
The album features collaborations with artists like The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kendrick Lamar, and it has a 30-song tracklist.
Some of the track titles include “Pop Out,” “Radar,” “Backd00r,” ”Fine Shit,” “I Seeeeee You Baby Boi,” “Like Weezy,” “Good Credit,” and “Cocaine Nose.”
The album “Music” also comes months after the rapper dropped his last single, “All Red,” in September last year.
The song reached No.15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No.3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
2025 seems to be a good year for Playboi Carti, as he also earned his first Grammy nomination for best rap song for his contribution to “Carnival,” a song by Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, and Rich the Kid.
This album also comes five years after Playboi released his second studio album, Whole Lotta Red, in 2020.
Prior to the album’s release last Friday, the rapper teased fans for months with the help of Spotify.
Spotify even went on to put up billboards across Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami with both the album title and lyrics, such as “STREETS READY,” “I AM MUSIC MF,” and “SORRY4 DA WAIT.”
