Rapper Lil Durk will release a new album from prison next week. The project titled Deep Thoughts was announced on Monday, March 17, via his social media account.

It came with a trailer and artwork with the caption: “The streets still need me.” The curtain raiser captured Durk’s producers in the studio working on music while talking to the rapper on the phone.

According to reports, the evidence against Lil Durk includes 230 gigabytes of audio and videos that both the prosecution and defense lawyers must filter through before the trial.

Officials said the evidence was “so unusual and so complex that it is unreasonable to expect adequate preparation for pretrial proceedings or for the trial itself within the Speedy Trial Act time limits.”

Apart from the murder-for-hire, Durk is also charged with conspiracy, and using a firearm in a violent crime. The 2022 shooting reportedly killed Quando’s cousin Lil Pub and was allegedly a retaliation for the murder of an associate of Durk.

Early this year, Lil Durk’s “murder-for-hire” case was reportedly moved to October 2025, following an agreement between prosecutors and the musician’s legal team, to enable them to prepare adequately.

Authorities had alleged that Durk attempted to flee the country shortly before he was arrested in October 2024. However, following recent developments, he would be in custody in Los Angeles until his trial in October.

In December, Durk reportedly broke jail rules while held at a California detention center. He repeatedly violated phone policies at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Los Angeles.

Officials said despite being instructed not to engage in three-way calls, he misused the phone system to make unauthorized calls, raising further concerns about his conduct behind bars.
