King Charles’ playlist has reached the No.1 spot in Apple’s music podcasts chart.
The 76-year-old monarch showed off a somewhat eclectic mix of musical go-tos in The King’s Music Room, a show curated for Apple Music that premiered on March 10, 2025.
King Charles III’s selections were based around a Commonwealth theme; the music choices are the king’s own, and listeners get a sense of both his enthusiasm for the music and how, through his charming comments, he has a remarkably good radio voice.
Through his choices, the royal praises artists such as Beyoncé and Kylie Minogue for their support of his King’s Trust (formerly the Prince’s Trust) and remembers his travels to the Caribbean, where he met Bob Marley and his widow, Rita Marley.
The playlist featured 17 hits by artistes including Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, and Beyoncé, as well as songs from across the Commonwealth.
The King’s Music Room is an hour-long programme in collaboration with Apple Music. It was released on Monday and quickly became the most listened-to music podcast.
The video in which the King introduces the podcast from his desk at Buckingham Palace also received top billing briefly before being bumped down by three Lady Gaga videos.
In The King’s Music Room, he introduces each track and talks about his recollections of meeting some of the artists.
He tells listeners that music “brings us joy” and can “bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory”.
In second place on the chart is Sidetracked with Annie and Nick, which features the former BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Macmanus and Radio 6 Music’s Nick Grimshaw.
In third place was Rockonteurs, featuring the Spandau Ballet pop star Gary Kemp and the bassist Guy Pratt.
