Songstress Chlöe Bailey and her record label have reportedly been sued by a songwriter for allegedly engaging in some unethical business practices.

The plaintiff named, Melvin Moore, claims he was not paid after contributing to the singer’s second album, Trouble in Paradise. For that reason, he is demanding some $5 million as compensation.

The lawsuit said to have been filed on February 20, accused Bailey and her record labels, Columbia Records and Parkwood Entertainment.

Moore said he worked on three songs on the album, namely Favorite, Same Lingerie, and Might As Well, but did not receive “proper credit” for the works.

According to the suit, Bailey and her labels “failed to seek permission” to commercially exploit the works or engage in “good-faith negotiations” before the commercial release of the songs.

Records suggest Moore’s name is found on the credits of the identified songs on streaming platforms, but he claims he was never paid for the songs and, therefore, should be removed from the “public eyes and ears.”

“Honestly, I don’t mind…I hate to say this, but it’s my life. It’s what I sign up for so I can only expect it. It’s just about how I handle it; how I handle myself. So I don’t think it should ever be pissy-ness towards the people who ask me,” she stated.
