Larenz Tate & Nia Long Announced As Ambassadors For American Black Film Festival 2025

Television personalities Larenz Tate and Nia Long have been announced as Ambassadors for the 29th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF), scheduled to take place in Miami Beach, Florida.

Their selection, as the face of the event, has been described as a reunion 28 years after they featured in Love Jones.

The ABFF is scheduled for June 11 to 15, 2025, and will be followed by an online segment from June 16 to 23.

A statement following the announcement said the Ambassadors “will help bring awareness to ABFF’s mission of showcasing Black content and fostering opportunities for creators of color to succeed in the film and TV industry while inspiring and empowering the next generation of storytellers.

Jeff and Nicole Friday, Founders of Nice Crowd, the entertainment company behind ABFF, shared some positive thoughts about the two ambassadors.

They wrote: We are thrilled to welcome Nia and Larenz as Ambassadors to the American Black Film Festival…Their work in Love Jones remains iconic, and they have long been trailblazers in the industry.

“Their contributions to ABFF’s mission have been immeasurable, dating back to the festival’s early days in Acapulco in the late 90s. We are honored to count them as dear friends. 

Apart from their roles as Ambassadors, Long, and Tate, according to organizers, will participate in ABFF Remembers titled Love Jones, described as “an intimate conversation and musical tribute celebrating the legacy of the film.”

Describing the show as a historic moment, Tate thanked the organizers in the post, saying he was “honored and beyond excited” to share the incredible experience at the ABFF with Nia Long.

Persons close to the event say that Tate and Nia will open up about the making of the film, Love Jones, highlighting their experiences on set and the friendship that has flourished over the years.

The other details indicate that guests at the event will have access to curated selections from the soundtrack for Love Jones, in addition to “a unique behind-the-scenes look at the nearly 30-year-old classic.”
