It has emerged that Kendrick Lamar will perform with songstress SZA as a “special guest” at the Super Bowl Halftime Show next month.

This was revealed in a trailer for Kendrick’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show. It appears their collaboration on the song Luther and Gloria on Kendrick’s album, GNX, would feature prominently at the event.

Sources say Kendrick and SZA will embark on a “Grand National Tour” after the Super Bowl show.

Kendrick’s team had said they needed some 500 crew members who could play various roles and support the team. Qualified personnel were asked to apply through a dedicated portal, announced this week.

Per the requirement, applicants must be above 18 years old, be in good physical health, and be available to attend rehearsal on all scheduled dates, starting January 23.

Lamar’s Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show will occur in New Orleans Caesars Superdome on February 9.

The Not Like Us hitmaker was announced last year as the headline artiste for the show, though some die-hard hip-hop fans thought it should have been Lil Wayne.

Following the announcement, Jay-Z described Kendrick Lamar as “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer.”

Rapper Lil Wayne, who initially expressed his disappointment over Kendrick’s choice, later issued a reconciliatory statement.

Appearing on the Skip Bayless Show on YouTube, Wayne said he congratulated and encouraged Kendrick as he prepared for the show.

Touching on the previous controversies surrounding Kendrick’s choice for the event, Lil Wayne noted he would one day get the opportunity to headline the show just as his compatriot had his chance.

“I wanna get to the point where I’m undeniable… I want them to walk in there and have 10 other choices, and whoever’s in charge says ‘No, you have to go with him,” he stated.

Barely a week after Kendrick Lamar got the nod, the Mirror composer expressed disappointment about not being chosen for the concert.

In an Instagram Live post, he expressed gratitude to those who spoke on his behalf following the snub, indicating that he was quite “heartbroken.”
