Musician, Nelly, is doing all he can to defend his decision to perform at the inaugural ball of President Donald Trump, after receiving a torrent of criticism from fans.
Nelly explained that he respects the office of the president, and his decision was not political in any way.
The Hot in Here hitmaker, in a Willie D Live interview posted on YouTube, explained: “The politics, for me, it’s over. He won. He’s the president, he’s the commander-in-chief, of what I would like to say, is the best country in the world. It is an honor for me to perform for the president of the United States, regardless of who is in office.”
Nelly further noted that he would availed himself for a performance if now-former president, Joe Biden, has extended an invitation to him to perform. To buttress his point, he noted that he appeared alongside then Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris at a Juneteenth event.
