Ice Spice has explained why her New Year’s Eve performance at the Wildlands Festival in Australia was cut short.
On January 4, the singer reportedly apologized to fans for her late arrival and brief performance on December 31, 2024.
“I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me,” Ice told the crowd. “It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie,” she stated.
Reports indicate that Ice was one of the headliners for the concert on New Year’s Eve, where she was slated to perform a 30-minute set.
However, sources said she was already 25 minutes into her slot by the time she took the stage.
Festival organizers were said to have given her an extra minute to perform, but she only ended up playing two tracks during her six-minute set.
Organizers also shared a statement about the festival, indicating that they had to be “extremely firm with scheduled set times.”
Ice Spice wrapped her tour with a performance in Adelaide, ending the global run in support of her debut album, Y2K, which landed at No. 18 on the Billboard 200.
In an interview with Billboard in July, Ice said she was “so ready” to start working on another project.
“I am definitely so ready to start another album…So that’s great. I know my label is gonna be really excited to hear that,” she noted.
In March last year, the singer responded to claims made by a fellow artiste who she performed with during her Y2K! World Tour.
Her colleague, rapper Cleotrapa, had uploaded a long video on TikTok and accused Ice Spice of being a “fake friend,” claiming she received poor treatment during their musical excursion.
Parts of her claims included paying for her hotels and food while on tour, adding that she was forced to use bathrooms as her dressing rooms. The co-signer also alleged that she was not compensated for her time.
Ice Spice, however, took time to respond to the assertions when she hosted an XSpace, indicating that all the claims by Cleotrapa were made out of “jealousy.”
