JAY-Z has firmly denied allegations made in a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl alongside Diddy after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City. The lawsuit, filed by attorney Tony Buzbee on behalf of an anonymous plaintiff, alleges the incident occurred at an afterparty in a private residence.
The lawsuit was initially filed in October, naming Diddy as a defendant and referring to JAY-Z as ‘Celebrity A.’ However, it was refiled on December 8, explicitly naming JAY-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter. The filing claims that the plaintiff was invited to the afterparty by a driver associated with Diddy, who allegedly told her she fit a specific profile.
According to the allegations, the girl was taken to a gated property where she was offered a drink. She claims the beverage left her feeling disoriented and prompted her to lie down in a bedroom. While there, the suit alleges JAY-Z and Diddy entered the room alongside an unnamed female celebrity. JAY-Z is accused of initiating the assault, with Diddy following afterwards.
The plaintiff claims she escaped by hitting Diddy and fleeing to a nearby gas station, where her father eventually picked her up.
JAY-Z denies assault allegations against him and Diddy
In response to the allegations, JAY-Z dismissed them as false and accused Buzbee of using the lawsuit as an extortion attempt. He expressed concern about the impact the accusations could have on his family, particularly his children. JAY-Z further criticized Buzbee’s legal strategy, describing it as a ploy to exploit high-profile figures for profit.
Buzbee has defended the lawsuit and denied accusations of extortion. He stated that his client did not seek financial compensation but requested confidential mediation.
Diddy has also denied the allegations, with his legal team asserting confidence in his innocence and the judicial process.
