Court documents obtained by TMZ indicate that Trey Songz will soon be handing over a large sum of cash.
A Las Vegas judge has ordered him to pay $11 million in damages to Tyrelle Dunn, a police officer who claimed that the music star and his security attacked him while he was trying to save his wife from Songz’s Vegas hotel room in 2021.
The $11 million in damages is for the police officer in the Maryland capitol due to injuries he sustained at the hands of the 39-year-old singer.
The incident happened around Songz’s birthday in November 2021, when he allegedly invited a group of women to his hotel room at The Cosmopolitan.
Tyrelle Dunn claims that his wife, who happened to be part of the women invited to the singer’s hotel room, was held against her will and screamed for help due to her inability to leave, which prompted him to try and save her.
It was during his attempt to save her that Dunn alleged Songz and his security attacked him.
As a result, he claims to have suffered fractured eye sockets and scarring. The injuries were reportedly enough to keep him away from work.
Trey Songz was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, but Tyrelle Dunn continued to pursue the civil litigation.
The singer reportedly went silent on Tyrelle, which resulted in a judge ruling in Dunn’s favor and awarding him $11 million in damages.
These will cover his previous medical expenses, pain, and suffering, and of course, be punitive toward the three-time Grammy nominee.
This payout is the latest in what has been a year full of legal ordeals for the R&B artist.
He has also previously been accused of gender violence, false imprisonment, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
In April, he has to settle a $25 million lawsuit surrounding an alleged rape of a woman at a party in 2016.
