Angela Bassett is set to return as a cast member for the upcoming Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning as revealed by the thriller and according to a Deadline report.
The Mission: Impossible franchise centers around Tom Cruise’s iconic character Ethan Hunt and his adventures.
Angela Bassett is returning to play her role as CIA Director Erika Sloane again, a character she first portrayed in 2018’s Mission: Impossible—Fallout.
Besides Cruise and Bassett, there are other returning cast members, which include Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt.
Others making their Mission: Impossible debut in the eighth installment include Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian, and Stephen Oyoung.
Christopher McQuarrie is returning to direct from his own script and is producing alongside Cruise, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Chris Brock serving as executive producers.
While the specific plot details of the new film from producers Paramount Pictures and Skydance are still under wraps, the film is slated for release on May 23, 2025.
Angela Bassett is currently starring as LAPD patrol sergeant Athena Grant on ABC’s 9-1-1, which returned for its eighth season in September.
She also recently appeared opposite Millie Bobby Brown in the fantasy movie Damsel, which became Netflix’s most-watched in the first half of this year.
Angela Bassett is also involved in Laika’s forthcoming animated film Wildwood and will also soon be seen starring opposite Robert De Niro in Netflix’s political thriller series Zero Day.
And about the rumors of Glen Powell taking over from Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning, they have been denied by Glen.
