Rapper 6ix9ine is once again facing time behind bars after a judge handed down a 45-day jail sentence for multiple probation violations.
The sentence comes after the controversial artist admitted to breaching probation terms set as part of his release following a high-profile racketeering case that linked him to gang-related activity.
His initial case was marked by a cooperation deal with law enforcement that helped reduce a lengthy prison sentence, but recent actions proved to be costly missteps for the rapper.
Rolling Stone reports that 6ix9ine’s violations included testing positive for methamphetamine, unauthorized travel to Las Vegas, and repeatedly failing to comply with court-mandated drug testing.
Despite the rapper’s legal team’s initial defense of his Las Vegas trip—claiming it was for a legitimate performance and that 6ix9ine believed he had properly notified authorities—he eventually pled guilty to the charges.
The violations prompted the court to impose a harsher 45-day sentence, surpassing the 30 days initially requested by prosecutors.
The rapper’s probation stems from his 2019 sentencing, which concluded with a reduced two-year prison term and five years of supervised release.
His initial charges, which included racketeering, drug trafficking, and firearms offenses, had positioned him for a potential 47-year sentence. However, a plea deal and his cooperation in prosecuting members of the Nine Trey Gangsters led to significant leniency.
Despite this second chance, staying out of legal trouble has proven difficult for the rapper, who has since been surrounded by controversy and legal battles.
Since his release, 6ix9ine’s life has been marked by allegations of violence and abuse from ex-girlfriend Yailin La Más Viral.
She has accused him of physical, sexual, mental, and financial abuse, alleging that he kept her under his control and frequently posted explicit content about her online. The allegations go further, as she claims he manipulated her into plastic surgery and stole significant sums of money while keeping her in a drug-induced state.
