The City of Miami has officially revoked Hip Hop star, Diddy’s Key to the Miami Beach amid his ongoing legal battle.
City officials of Miami Beach, Florida, gave Diddy the key nine years ago.
According to TMZ, the city cut ties with the embattled American rapper following a series of charges and lawsuits filed against him.
Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner and the city commission voted unanimously at an in-person hearing Wednesday.
TMZ stated that its sources tell it that the mayor still has to officially sign off on the resolution, which is imminent.
The outlet also reported that Commissioners Joe Magazine, David Suarez, Tanya Katzoff Bhatt, and Alex Fernandez sponsored the decision.
Diddy was honored with the ceremonial key in 2015 for his contributions to the music industry and his role in organizing the Revolt Music Conference in Miami Beach.
In June, the city officially rescinded October 13 as “Sean Diddy Combs Day.”
The resolution to revoke the day from the once-music mogul was taken away after the Cassie assault video became public.
The Hip Hop artist losing his key isn’t a shocker. This is not the first time he’s lost an honorary key to a city.
A few months ago, Diddy was asked to return his New York key to the city in June after Mayor Eric Adams sent him a request in a letter.
The question now is who gets to be the next honoree; it might differently be someone from the city, who’s honest, worthy of it.
After Diddy returned his Key to the city of New York, Mayor Eric Adams surprised Fat Joe on stage with the Key to the City on Tuesday night, August 20, before his performance at Orchard Beach in his birthplace of the Bronx.
