Rapper Polo G, known officially as Taurus Tremani Bartlett, has reportedly been grabbed by police in Los Angeles after a firearm was found in his vehicle.
The Epidemic performer is also said to have been arrested for a similar offence in April this year. That was after hotel staff at a facility allegedly found a gun left behind on a loveseat in his room.
Details of the latest arrest indicate that the rapper was stopped by police for speeding, but officers found a gun after searching his car. He was charged with possessing a concealed weapon, according to sources close to the incident.
Polo G is expected to begin his Hood Poet Tour on Thursday, but it appeared he would pull the brakes briefly due to the arrest.
Born on January 6, 1999, the rap star rose to prominence with singles such as Finer Things and Pop Out (featuring Lil Tjay). Public records indicate that his debut album Die a Legend (2019) peaked at number six on the US Billboard 200 and received double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
His second studio album, The Goat, released in 2020, reached number two on the Billboard 200, in addition to other recognitions. Hall of Fame was his third studio album released in 2021.
His style of music is described as “vivid and explicit storytelling” because his lyrics often involve “tough subjects, including racism and mental health.” He identifies rappers Lil Wayne and Tupac Shakur as some of his role models.
Polo G’s arrest is similar to that of King Harris, son of musician T.I., who was arrested last week for failing to appear in court for a traffic violation.
As reported, Clifford “King” Joseph Harris III was moving out of a gas station in a BMW but nearly hit an officer’s vehicle, which prompted the officer to pull him over. The officer was said to have smelled marijuana and also noticed a gun on his hip during interrogation.
