Chicago-born rapper Lil Reese was arrested on October 16 in Harris County, Texas, marking his second run-in with the law in just a few weeks.
He now faces serious charges of aggravated assault of a family member, which extends to dating partners, as detailed in online court records.
Authorities have set Lil Reese’s bond at $50,000, and he faces the possibility of multiple years behind bars if convicted. The rapper, whose real name is Tavares Taylor, stands accused of violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend, including allegations of punching and strangling her.
This latest arrest comes after a tumultuous September, during which Lil Reese was charged with several offenses related to domestic violence. These charges include assault of a family or household member with a previous conviction, assault by impeding breath against a family member, and violation of a bond or protective order. His legal troubles escalated when he was taken into custody shortly after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The incident that led to the current charges reportedly took place at the Pinkhouse nightclub in Houston. According to reports, the rapper became aggressive after his ex-girlfriend rejected his attempts to kiss her while leaving the venue. The confrontation occurred approximately a month after their breakup, suggesting ongoing tensions between the two.
This troubling domestic violence case follows an earlier accusation against Lil Reese in July, when he was arrested in Los Angeles for suspicion of sexual assault and rape. However, those charges were ultimately dropped in August, and Lil Reese has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding that incident.
