Kendrick Lamar has solidified his dominance in the rap industry by making a historic mark at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards.

The Compton superstar, known for his impactful lyrics and innovative sound, emerged victorious in eight categories from eleven nominations, setting a record for the most wins in a single night in the awards’ history.

Three of Kendrick’s wins came from his chart-topping diss track, Not Like Us, which was honored as Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, and Impact Track. This track has resonated with fans and demonstrated Kendrick’s lyrical prowess and ability to engage in high-profile feuds, particularly with fellow artist Drake.

In addition, Kendrick’s collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, Like That, won Best Collaboration, while Kendrick’s electrifying verse on the track earned him the Best Featured Verse award. His achievements didn’t stop there. Kendrick was also recognized as Hip Hop Artist of the Year, outshining heavyweights such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Future, and claimed the titles of Lyricist of the Year and Video Director of the Year alongside his collaborator Dave Free.

Despite his impressive haul, Kendrick Lamar missed the Album of the Year award, which went to Nicki Minaj for her latest project, Pink Friday 2. This marked a significant achievement for Minaj, making her the first female rapper to win this honor.

Other winners at the event included 50 Cent, who took home the Hustler of the Year award, and Future and Metro Boomin, who were celebrated as Best Duo or Group. Sexyy Red was recognized as Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist, while The Alchemist won both Producer of the Year and DJ of the Year. Missy Elliott was awarded Best Live Performer, demonstrating her enduring legacy in the hip-hop scene.
