The Billboard chart has kept track of best-selling albums and songs since its official launch in 1956 in the US. However, it’s still an impressive feat for an artist to reign atop these charts, especially with several different albums in their career.

Today, only a select few artistes such as Taylor Swift and Drake have bragging rights.

We take a look at five rappers who have been able to make the most No.1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart.

Eminem

Eminem is not just certified in the rap game but has been referred to as the GOAT.

His Marshall Mathers LP” by Eminem sold over 1 million copies in its debut week when it was released in 2000, easily earning a No.1 debut on the Billboard 200.

He is also RIAA certified, as he became the most RIAA-certified artist for singles in gold and platinum history.

He’s had 11 No. 1 albums in the Billboard 200 and was named the Billboard Artiste of the Decade in 2009.

Kanye West

Ye, as he is known today, is a prominent figure in the rap game. He won the Billboard Artist Achievement Award in 2005 and had 10 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

In 2023, he logged his 11th consecutive No. 1 with Vultures 1, a collaborative album with Ty Dolla Sign.

Drake

Drake has 13 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

These numbers include one mixtape Care Package, two collaborative albums, What A Time To Be Alive with Future and Her Loss with 21 Savage, and one project he labelled as a playlist More Life”

His song One Dance with Wizkid became Spotify’s most-streamed song in 2018 with over 882 million streams, and the album Her Loss debuted in 2022 at No.1.

Future

This might come as a surprise to many, but Future is one of the top-achieving gold and platinum rappers of all time and has 11 No.1 albums on the Billboard 200.

Jay-Z

The Brooklyn native has 14 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and is tied with Ye as the two rappers with the most Grammy wins in history.

He is, however, not just your regular rapper – he has plenty of businesses under his belt, and has become the first billionaire rapper.
