LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made history when they played a basketball game together on October 6.

It was, more or less, a dream come true for the basketball superstar who had always wanted to play on the same pitch with his son before he ever retired from the game.

It was Bronny’s 20th birthday as both Lebron and his son became the first father-and-son pair to play for the Lakers on the same court.

Speaking to sports outlet ESPN afterward, LeBron James said the moment meant “everything” to him as a father.

“For a father, it means everything…For someone who didn’t have that growing up, to be able to have that influence on your kids and have influence on your son…Be able to have moments with your son, and ultimately, to be able to work with your son…I think that’s one of the greatest things that a father can ever hope for or wish for,” he stated.

The duo reportedly played together for about four minutes, and that was made possible by the Lakers coach, JJ Redick, who said he was thrilled to see them both.

“Just wanted to get them a chance to play together in preseason … within the flow of the game…I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of this. I really am,” the coach stated.

“It’s cool as a basketball fan…It speaks to the work that Bronny has put in to get to this point and really just the fatherly care and love, and certainly the motherly care from Savannah as well. Bronny’s such a great kid and he’s a pleasure to be around,” he added.

After playing in the 2024 Olympic Games, LeBron James debunked retirement rumors, saying he has more to offer.

In August this year, LeBron spoke about how would relate with his son, Bronny, on the basketball pitch, indicating the youngster could only call him “dad” after a game was over.

“He [Bronny] cannot call me dad in the workplace…Once we leave out the private facility and the gates close, I could be dad again [and] in the car if we ride together, at home I could be dad.

“He got to call me like ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron’ or, you know, ‘GOAT’ if he wants to. It’s up to him,” LeBron was quoted in excerpts of an upcoming interaction with sports outlet, ESPN.

The NBA superstar, at the time, said he would keep things professional on the pitch between him and Bronny, who decided to follow in his footsteps in sports.
