Eve is the most recent rapper and actress to enter the academic field, sharing her knowledge, skills, and experiences with the future generation.
On September 21, Eve will start a one-year residency at NYU, where she will interact personally and through a series of debates and classroom visits with teachers and students.
For the 2024–2025 academic year, as the newest Scholar-in-Residence at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
Her position will provide insights into both her career and the changing music business.
Plus, Eve’s new book, Who’s That Girl? is being released at the same time as this scholar residency.
Acclaimed hip-hop writer and adjunct professor at NYU Kathy Iandoli co-wrote it.
The Dean of Steinhardt, Jack H. Knott, expressed his excitement about Eve’s appointment, stating that:
“We are thrilled to be hosting Eve as our 2024-25 Scholar in Residence. She will share the expertise she’s gained as an award-winning artist in music, film, and television. She is also a philanthropist working with young people in the arts. Our students and faculty will benefit from her engagement. Her support will help advance our efforts to promote equity, belonging, and innovation.
Additionally, Eve shared on social media how excited she was to be joining NYU.
She wrote, “Ya’ll, I can’t believe I am saying this, but I am thrilled to announce I will be joining the 2024-25 Scholar-in-Residence at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. My year-long residency kicks off on September 21 with a welcoming event at NYU. I want people to get an understanding of who I am as a person outside of music. I am looking forward to getting to know the NYU community.”
