American singer Pharrell Williams left his followers a bit disappointed after canceling his annual music festival, hours after tickets had started selling.

The Something In the Water concept was planned to take place in October in Virginia. Some fans were said to have started buying early bird tickets before organizers said the show had been postponed to April 2025.

“Virginia doesn’t deserve better, Virginia deserves the best. So Something In The Water has to match that. It just isn’t ready yet. That’s why we have decided we must postpone this year’s [event],” a statement said. “This is not a Pharrell festival, this is the state of Virginia’s festival so it has to be the best.”

Though no clear reason was stated for the cancellation, sources say the festival has had issues since its inception. In 2021, Williams reportedly moved the festival to Washington DC for some reasons.

The following year, the show returned to its location of origin but an entire day of the festival was cancelled due to bad weather.

Despite the latest rescheduling, the Happy singer continues to promote his Lego-animated documentary film called Piece by Piece, to be available in cinemas later in October this year.

The project, according to producers, will follow the rise of the prolific artiste and “recreate monumental moments in his life.”

The narrative will capture Pharrell’s time in the group The Neptunes when he worked with the likes of Chad Hugo, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and others.

He had previously spoken about not being on good terms with Chad Hugo but said: “I always wish him the absolute best… I love him and I’m very grateful for our time together.”

Piece By Piece was directed by the acclaimed Morgan Neville – the mastermind behind award-winning documentaries such as 20 Feet From Stardom (2013) and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (2018). Pharrell Williams also served as an executive producer with the production company, which co-produced the movie.
